Real-World Review: The NiSi Jetmag Pro Filter System at Godrevy, Cornwall.
By Marcus Jose | Landscape Photographer | Godrevy Regular & Certified Filter User
When NiSi dropped their Jetmag Pro filter system, I was curious—but also a bit sceptical. Magnetic filters? Fast swaps? No fiddling with threads while your tripod sinks into wet sand? It sounded like something cooked up in a photographer’s fever dream.
I don’t often get to review new gear so when I got my hands on a set for a few days, I did what any self-respecting Cornish landscape photographer would do: I headed to Godrevy, a place that’s tested more bits of kit than I care to admit. Wind? Tick. Sea spray? Double tick. Moody skies that can’t decide what they’re doing? Perfect.

❗A Quick Disclaimer (Because Honesty Matters)
This is not a sponsored review.
I didn’t get paid, gifted gear, or asked to say anything specific. The Jetmag Pro kit I used was part of the stock sent to me by NiSi for use during a public filter day I hosted. I simply took the opportunity to test the system in the real world—and share my honest impressions with you.
⚠️ VND Note
NiSi has also just released a Variable ND (VND) filter designed for this magnetic system. Sadly, I didn’t have access to it during this review, so I can’t speak to its performance. If I do get my hands on one in the future, I’ll do a follow-up review.
📦 First Impressions: Built Like a Brick Lighthouse
Right out of the case, the NiSi Jetmag Pro feels solid. Not “fragile filter glass in a flimsy wallet” vibes. More “I’d trust this in a gale-force squall on the cliffs” sort of solid. The magnets are strong, the stackable design is genius, and yes—it even looks sleek. The CPL locks into the base ring and still rotates even when stacked and that dear reader, is the stuff of dreams for landscape photographers!!
⚙️ In the Field: Snap, Shoot, Repeat
The real test was using the filters in the field. I wanted to see how they held up when I was dodging waves and battling shifting light.
Highlights from the field:
Speed: Swapping filters mid-shoot was fast. Like, properly fast. No more “hang on, I’ve just dropped my 6-stop in a rockpool” moments.
No Threading, No Faff: Magnetic mounting = bliss. I genuinely spent more time composing than fiddling. Revolutionary.
Stackability: I layered a CPL and a 6-stop ND all in one go and it held tight. No slippage. No vignetting at 16mm either.
Colour-Neutral: Images straight out of camera looked balanced. No blue or magenta casts. Just natural Cornish tones and creamy long exposures.

📸 Godrevy Put It to the Test
Godrevy always delivers—especially when the light plays ball. I grabbed a handful of long exposures with the CPL and 10-stop ND. Foreground rocks popped thanks to the CPL. The Jetmag Pro let me adapt to the light within seconds. I didn’t miss a shot—or drop a swear word.

✅ Pros & Cons (Real Talk)
Pros:
Lightning-fast filter swaps
Excellent build quality
Colour neutrality
Case is compact and practical
CPL rotation even when stacked (a BIG win)
Cons:
Pricey if you're new to filters
Magnets could come loose if knocked (didn’t happen, but a possibility)
The lack of a GND could be an issue but rumour has it NiSi are working on a GND system
You’ll be spoiled. Going back to screw-ons is like swapping your car for a horse.
🧭 Who’s This For?
If you shoot landscapes regularly, especially in variable light and coastal conditions, the Jetmag Pro is a no-brainer. It’s ideal for those who want to reduce setup faff, speed up their workflow, and spend more time actually photographing the moment. If you’re just starting out and only use filters occasionally, the price might be a bit steep—but if you’re serious about your craft, this system could be your new best friend.

🧠 Final Thoughts
The NiSi Jetmag Pro is a fantastic filter system. It’s fast, fuss-free, and performs beautifully in the field. If it can survive at Godrevy, it can handle just about anything.
Would I buy it? If I had the funds—absolutely but i probably won’t as i’ve invested heavily in my NiSi V7 kit, however the JetMag Pro kit is every inch a pro-level tool with the soul of a field photographer in mind.
